CONA Traffic Calming

On April 4 th, 2005, the City of Monterey will begin construction of several traffic calming projects in the Casanova – Oak Knoll neighborhood. Construction will be completed by the Don Chapin Co. and will consist of curb extensions and medians along portions of Airport Road, Ramona Avenue and Casanova Avenue.

These improvements are part of the City’s Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program, which is intended to involve residents in the process of selecting roadway features that slow traffic and improve livability in the neighborhoods. The program gives residents the tools and ability to choose traffic calming devices for their streets by educating residents in traffic calming principles, instructing them on the use of approved traffic calming devices, and applying traffic calming devices on their streets.

Construction is expected to be completed by July 8 th, 2005. The construction dates are approximate and may vary due to weather or unforeseen conditions. Some traffic delays and noise should be expected during construction. For project scheduling and updated project information, please visit the construction updates page on the City of Monterey’s website at http://www.monterey.org/construction.
