XMAS Toy Drive 2018

Happy Holidays CONA!
Our CONA annual Toy drive has started, the flyer describes everything. CONA members have generously contributed to this need for decades.
Please drop your unwrapped toys off at the Casanova Oak Knoll Park Center. They also have a barrel for canned goods and dry food.
The Monterey Firemen’s Association Santa hand delivers presents all over the Peninsula.
Without these presents hundreds of children would go without.
This year we are sending flyers via email, this is the most efficient way we can get the message out. We will add our website, Facebook & Nextdoor.
Please forward the flyer to all your contacts, spread the cheer!
Richard Ruccello, CONA president

The following comments are from our Fire Chief from a couple of years ago describing their efforts.

Monterey, CA. – Santa Claus made an  early visit to the Monterey Peninsula this week, trading in his sleigh for a  fire truck. For the past 20 years, Santa has teamed up with Monterey  firefighters to deliver toys to local families in need.
“Thanks to  community support, our toy drive collected over 1,000 gifts this year,” said  Fire Chief Gaudenz Panholzer. “We couldn’t have done it without the generosity  of the volunteers and community.”
Toys were collected  in marked barrels at all five fire station locations. In addition to Neighborhood collections.
Nearly 100 volunteers  wrapped the gifts at Monterey High School on December
With lights  flashing, fire engines delivered the gifts to local family doorsteps. Spearheading the delivery program was Division Chief Felix  Colello, who has worked for the Monterey Fire Department for over 40 years.
“Kids come to the  door with smiles on their faces, and parents with tears of joy in their eyes,”  said Colello. “This is one of many rewarding programs that the Monterey  Firefighters Association puts on.”
Over 200 children  from 78 local families received gifts from this year’s toy drive.
